Our Neverland Tours

Vienna off the beaten track

What does it mean to live on the streets?
What does addiction feel like, how does it affect everyday life, and why do we let it control our lives?
What remains when you have lost everything?
Our city tours provide answers that get under your skin.

Our tour guides know from their own experience what it means to lose your home and fall into the downward spiral of addiction. They speak openly and directly about their pasts, without sugarcoating or dramatizing. While Martin reflects on a time long past, Nico speaks of experiences that are not so long behind him – two stories that together convey a deep understanding of life on the streets and its consequences.

Martin's Tour

Peter Punk in Wiener Nimmerland

Martin takes you on a journey through his past – a time when drugs dominated his everyday life and the streets were his home. At 17, he escaped from the home and, via a detour, ended up in the heart of Vienna's drug scene. What began as apparent freedom quickly turned into a struggle for survival between addiction, homelessness, and the feeling of not belonging anywhere.

On his tour, Martin speaks openly about the harsh realities of a life with addiction:

  • How does the substitution program work in Austria – and what challenges does it bring with it?
  • How do you survive without money – and how do you finance an addiction?
  • What does the everyday life of a drug-addicted homeless person really look like?
  • Why is the relapse rate after withdrawal so high?
  • What support is available for addicts – and where does the system fail?

A special highlight of the tour is the story of the legendary Pizzeria Anarchia, one of Vienna's most famous squats, in which Martin was involved. You'll learn firsthand why a house occupied by 19 people was cleared in 2014 with the help of 1,700 police officers, and what went on behind the scenes – an event that attracted international attention.

He doesn't just share his story, but talks about social inequalities, prejudices, exclusion and how to deal with people on the margins of society.

Nico's Tour

The Lost Boy in Wiener Nimmerland

Homeless at just 13 and addicted to drugs at 14 – Nico's story shows how quickly life can derail. Without family support, without help, and without prospects, the streets suddenly became his home. While others his age went to school, he struggled to make it through the next day.

On his tour, Nico speaks openly about the reality of youth homelessness:

  • How does it feel to suddenly find yourself alone as a teenager?
  • How do you survive on the streets – where do you sleep and what dangers lurk?
  • Why do so many homeless youth end up in the drug scene?
  • How difficult is the path out of addiction and back to a stable life?

Nico talks about nights spent on park benches, the despair of not knowing where to go, and the loneliness that often drove him to numb himself with drugs. He talks about how he lost his footing—and how he managed to escape that life. His story makes it clear that homelessness can happen faster than you think—and that it often takes not only willpower but also a bit of luck to find a way out.

He reports unvarnished and directly about his time on the streets (which was barely two years ago), not to arouse pity, but to educate and raise awareness.

If you have any questions, don’t raise your hand—you can just interrupt me at any time!
